Environmental measures

Since summer 2022, the Sylt Shuttle has been running on the climate friendly biofuel HVO no. 164 (hydrotreated vegetable oil) produced from residues and waste.
Our goal is to switch the few remaining diesel-operated long-distance trains to 100% HVO by 2025.
A new, completely overhauled range of products has been introduced for our on-board catering service. More than 50% of the food on offer is either vegan or vegetarian, which helps to save resources. Three 100% organic seasonal promotional products are also available.
