Schedule adjustment for the Hamburg — Berlin corridor modernization

Together with its construction partners, DB InfraGO reassessed the schedule for the ongoing modernization of theHamburg — Berlin rail corridor in mid-February 2026. Due to the persistently cold weather with snow and ice, it was not technically possible to lay a total of 740 km of cable for the command and control technology for many weeks. The time buffers in the project have been used up. The aim now is to use additional resources to catch up as quickly as possible on all the work that has become backed up since the start of 2026 due to the weather conditions. On March 13, 2026, DB InfraGO intends to present an adjusted commissioning concept followed by an adjusted cost forecast if necessary. The commissioning concept shall also be coordinated in advance with TOCs and contracting organizations.
