Targets (S1-5)

DB Group aims to continuously improve the health and safety of its employees and to reduce the risk of work-related accidents in a sustainable manner. The LTIF (lost time injury frequency) is used throughout the Group to manage this target. The LTIF in DB Group is defined as the number of occupational accidents resulting in at least one calendar day of absence from work (LTI) per one million hours worked.

For 2025, the LTIF target value for DB Group employees was set at 22.0; for 2026, the LTIF target value is 22.5.

The annual LTIF target value is determined using a standardized procedure that is binding throughout the Group, which is based on the insured working hours and the number of LTI reported by all Group companies. This data is used to calculate both the average LTIF of the Group companies and the actual LTIF of DB Group. The analysis also includes a multi-year trend analysis in order to assess structural developments, changes in the risk profile and the effectiveness of existing preventive measures. The data is mainly provided via the Group-wide IT platform SAP EH&S, which links the company medical service, occupational health and safety, accident management and hazardous substance management. Individual Group companies that are not connected via the IT platform report the data directly to the evaluating department.

The target value is derived by the Group-wide occupational health and safety working group with the involvement of the Group works council. This approach ensures that the definition of objectives is both technically sound and coordinated between the social partners. The target value is set in such a way as to be achievable while simultaneously supporting the ambitious further development of occupational health and safety.
